If you are planning a trip from the UK to Disney World, you probably have heard a lot about Epcot, one of the four theme parks there and more times than not you probably hear a lot of adults especially claiming how great it is. So, why is Epcot so popular? We will try to give you some possible reasons why Epcot seems so popular, especially with adults.
Highly Popular With Older Adults
One group of people who find Epcot extremely popular would be the “baby boomers”. A lot of this has to do with the fact that when they were growing up, Walt Disney came into their homes on a weekly basis through the “Wonderful World of Walt Disney”. They were lucky enough to see Walt himself promote “Epcot”, or also known as the “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow which could be experienced in Tomorrowland at Disneyland.
Walt Disney was a huge dreamer and the baby boomers grew up with this attitude and they relished his imagination and innovations with new technology that he predicted through his movies and through a lot of his features at Disneyland. Because of this, Epcot is actually somewhat nostalgic to people of this age group and helps create Epcot’s popularity.
Epcot Has A Promise Of A Greater Future
Epcot became something very special to Walt in his older years as he saw the kind of cities his grandchildren would be growing up in. He saw all too well what was actually happening to so many of the country’s larger cities, with all the crime, poorly designed communities, and pollution, he wanted his Epcot to be an attempt on his part to try and develop a city of the future much different than what real American cities were actually becoming. He wanted to give people hope for a better future.
Because of Walt’s vision, Epcot to this very day still gives those who visit hope that there will be a brighter future for them and their families. It gives people a blueprint for the future and it is designed to try and stimulate more American ideas for future cities.
Disneyland Actually Gave Birth To Many Of The Ideas For Epcot
Disneyland in all honesty has a lot to do with the popularity of Epcot today. When Walt Disney and his “Imagineers” learned quite a few things when they were developing Disneyland and it helped them to use this knowledge and use it to plan communities, and maybe even real cities. Over the years, Walt Disney immersed himself in different books about planning cities, books like Ebenezer Howard’s Garden Cities of Tomorrow.” This book and many like it had a huge influence on his overall design of Epcot.
For many who fell in love with the charm of Disneyland and Walt’s vision of the future has made it very easy for people to fall in love with Epcot because so much of the original Disneyland can actually be seen all through Epcot.
The Land And The Seas
This the home of Epcot’s most famous attraction called “Soarin’”. This is a ride most adults love because it takes you on a hang gliding trip over California and it’s one experience at Disney World that just should not be missed. This area of Epcot also offers an experience called “Living With the Land”. This is an attraction where guests ride a boat that takes them through America’s farming history along with Epcot’s own working hydroponics farm.
Then there’s “The Seas” and this is the home of two really good attractions that are aimed at children to help teach about the oceans. One is called Turtle Talk with Crush and The Seas with Nemo and Friends. The Turtle Talk with Crush gives kids the opportunity have an interactive experience by getting to talk to Crush. The kids can ask Crush all kinds of questions about what it’s like to live in the ocean and so much more. Then there’s The Seas with Nemo and Friends where guests start up above the water and then they descend into the depths of the sea to try and find Nemo and his friends.
Before leaving this area, you really need to see the huge aquarium, in fact it’s so big they say that the Spaceship Earth can fit inside of the aquarium with some room left over.
World Showcase
Most adults find this a great place because while walking around they feel like they are traveling around the world. In every country you visit they even have people who will talk to you about the particular country and they’ll teach you about each country. The World Showcase also gives you the opportunity to taste all types of foods from all over the world, in fact they offer some of the best food out of all the theme parks at Disney World.
All About Frozen
One of the top attractions that helps make Epcot so popular would be Frozen Ever After, which is located in “Norway”. This attraction attracts so many people all year round, it’s always a good idea to make sure you have a FastPass in order to not have to wait all day to get into the attraction.
Epcot Festivals
All through the year Epcot offers a variety of different festivals and this is something that attracts many people. For example during the winter they offer a festival called “Festival of Arts” and it hosts lovely presentations of the arts through paintings and even food. In the spring they offer the “International Flower & Garden Festival”, this is when Epcot comes alive with tons of topiaries and vibrant color. In the fall they hold the “International Food & Wine Festival. During this festival they feature different dishes and beverages from all over the world that you normally won’t find served the rest of the year at Epcot.
Finally – Illuminations
Illuminations is a wonderful late night display on the World Showcase Lagoon where they celebrate the dawning of humanity and honors all the different nations all over the world. The show has a huge glowing LED globe, lots of lasers, and plenty of astounding fireworks that can be seen all through Disney World.
