Walt Disney World in Florida consists of four theme parks, each with its own vibe and unique attractions. These are:

While the parks all arguably have something for everyone, you may find that certain parks are better suited to your group, depending on your situation.
If you’re travelling with little ones or you just want to experience that “classic Disney” magic, you’ll probably prefer Magic Kingdom. Animal Kingdom is another great park for families, especially for kids who love nature and wildlife.
EPCOT and Hollywood Studios tend to be preferred by older kids and adult-only groups as they have more thrill rides and adult-focused experiences (like EPCOT’s Food and Wine
Festival). But that’s not to say that kids won’t love certain attractions and sights at these parks, too.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — recently renovated from the aging Splash Mountain ride, this is a log flume attraction like you’ve never experienced before.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — a smooth coaster that’s suitable for kids as well as adults.
Haunted Mansion — a classic Disney dark ride with a fun spooky atmosphere (it’s not too scary, don’t worry!).
Pirates of the Caribbean — an immersive dark ride that’s nice to do when you need a break in the aircon.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — an indoor coaster with a backwards launch and g-force like you’ve never felt (our personal favourite WDW ride of all time).
Soarin’ Around the World — a kid-friendly attraction that gives you an incredible flying experience over global sights.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure — shrinks you down to rat size, with theming that’s just chef’s kiss.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance — one of the most mind-blowing immersive Disney experiences in Galaxy’s Edge.
Slinky Dog Dash — a family coaster in Toy Story Land that’s just pure joy.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror — a thrill ride drop tower that’ll leave you with your heart in your throat (not for those with a nervous disposition!).
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway — one of the newest HS attractions, and perfect fun for different ages.
Avatar Flight of Passage — our personal favourite among Disney’s immersive rides (don’t be surprised if you shed a tear!).
Kilimanjaro Safaris — a safari ride where you’ll see real animals in their natural habitats.
Expedition Everest — a fast, thrilling coaster through stunning Himalayan scenery.
Na’vi River Journey — a more chilled, family-friendly scenic ride through Pandora’s bioluminescent rainforest.
Top tip: If you want to do all the rides without the queues, consider buying a Lightning Lane Multi-Pass ticket for your must-rides. That way, you can skip the regular queues (which can often be hours long) and get more from your experience at the four theme parks.
The food at Disney is one of the biggest parts of the experience. Each park has a selection of different eateries, including counter service, quick service, and proper table service restaurants (which, word of warning, generally require advanced dining reservations). You can bring your own food, but it’s also worth dining out every now and again, since Disney food is too delicious to turn down.
We could talk about Disney’s Dining options all day, but here’s a short breakdown of our favourite spots to eat in each park:
Cinderella’s Royal Table — dining inside the actual castle with characters, bound to be a hit with the kids.
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen — a sit-down restaurant with quirky theming and a menu that’s a bit different from the usual burgers and chips.
Casey’s Corner — Our personal favourite spot for loading up on hot dogs (including veggie options) before the evening parade and fireworks.
Space 220 Restaurant — for a unique table service dining experience in “space” (tip: sit at the bar if you want to avoid the set menu).
Le Cellier Steakhouse — some of the best steak dishes you can get your hands on in a fancier atmosphere.
Festival food stalls during special seasons (Food, Flower & Garden Festival) — a great opportunity to try a broad range of small plates from around the world.
50’s Prime Time Café — a hilarious themed diner with “Mum” style service that’ll have you in stitches.
Quick service in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge (Docking Bay) or Toy Story Land — perfect theming with kid-friendly meals and snacks.
Tiffins Restaurant — signature dining with exotic cuisine.
Yak & Yeti Restaurant — our favourite restaurant in the park, with gorgeous pan-Asian flavours and a quick-service option if you don’t want the commitment of a table service meal.
Satu’li Canteen in Pandora — the best quick service if you’re looking for a more creative menu.
If you stay on Disney property and use a Disney dining plan (if they’re offering it), you’ll be happy to know that dining credits apply to many of these spots.
Staying on-site at a Disney resort means you’ll have access to exclusive perks, including early park entry, extended evening hours, and free Disney transportation to and from the parks and Disney Springs.
You’ll also get to enjoy traditional Disney theming at your hotel, plus excellent guest services from the on-site cast members, and it’ll be easy to pop back to your room for a rest whenever you fancy.
When you stay within the Disney bubble, you’ll keep the magic alive all day. While off-site hotels can help you save money, you’ll probably find that you lose some of the convenience and atmosphere that you’d get at a Disney hotel.

If you’re a family with kids, you’ll love the characters, rides, and shows, and it really is true that nobody does it better than Disney. Couples and adults can have the best time at Disney World even without kids, especially now Disney has introduced new thrill rides like TRON Lightcycle Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
Disney is constantly updating and refreshing things, so no one trip will ever be the same. If you’re visiting in 2026, here’s a small snippet of what you’ve got to look forward to:
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will get new scenes featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu movie, released in May next year.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is having a refurbishment and will return with exciting enhancements.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin (currently closed) will reopen with exciting new interactive features, including new blasters and lighting.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios will get a re-theme to The Muppets and is set to re-open next summer.
Dinosaur / DinoLand U.S.A. will close on February 2 to make room for a new Tropical Americas themed land, featuring Indiana Jones and Encanto elements.
So, depending on when exactly you’re planning to visit, your 2026 trip could give you the chance to experience a newly renovated or conceptualized attraction.
Your Walt Disney World experience doesn’t have to end when you step out of the park gates. There’s so much to see and do beyond the parks, including Disney Springs (a shopping complex, with dining and entertainment), the Disney World water parks, and hotel-specific attractions (for instance, some have outdoor movie evenings and campfire activities.
If you’re looking beyond Disney property entirely but you’ve got it in you for another theme park, we highly recommend visiting Universal Orlando (including the brand new Epic Universe park). You’ll need a separate ticket for Universal parks, but it’s worth the cost if you’re a fan of thrill rides.
For something non-park-related, look into Orlando’s golf courses (if that’s your thing), or take a day trip to Kennedy Space Center or a nearby beach. There are also nearby shopping outlets if you fancy a bit of retail therapy.

British Citizens will not need a visa to go on holiday to Orlando Florida. You will however need an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation). You need to apply at least 72 hours before you travel, and it has a 2-year validity should you want to go back to Florida in this time.
In our opinion the best time for a holiday to Disney World Resort is between the months of March and May. The weather is a lot better in these months, and you will find the resorts and parks slightly less crowded during these times. Avoiding the school holidays is always a good option, if possible, as unsurprisingly the parks won’t be super busy or overcrowded.
We typically tend to advise our customers on between a 10-14 night holiday if you are wanting to get as much action and visiting the theme parks. Not only do you have Walt Disney world but there is also Universal studios Florida which a lot of customers want to experience as well. You probably will want to take days off from the parks and enjoy quieter days and experience other experiences Florida has to offer. So, with that in mind a typical 10-14 night holiday is usually an ideal amount to enjoy what Orlando has to offer.
