In this article we will take a look at Disney All Star Music Resort and hopefully give you enough information that will help make your decision making of where you want to stay, when planning for a trip to Disney World.

In this Disney All Star Music Resort review we will cover everything from the theme to the different price ranges for the different rooms along with the amenities and food and more.

As a leading UK travel agent that books customers to every single on-site Disney hotel we have first-hand knowledge on every resort and what it can offer every family we send there. Hopefully this article will give you a better understanding on whether booking the Disney All Star Music Resort for your Disney World holiday would be a good choice.

Disney All Star Music Resort History

The All Star resorts complex was started in 1994 with the All Star Sports Resort was the first one they began with. The All Stars were an idea of Disney to try and create some less expensive rooms for families that still offered the Disney quality. The Disney All Star Music Resort was also completed the same year in November of 1994.

Category & Rating Of The All Star Music Resort

When it comes to the category of the All Star Music Resort, it hasn’t changed over the years and is still considered one of their numerous “value” resorts, which means that they can be far less expensive than their “moderate” and “deluxe” resorts. According to many who have stayed at the All Star Music Resort, most of them have rated this value resort most often 4 stars out of 5.

Disney All Star Music Resort Theme

As you can tell from the title of the resort, the theme is all about music and if you are a music lover, this could be the ideal place for you and your family. The resort is divided into five different buildings that include the following:

  • Calypso –

Which has the music theme of Calypso music complete with larger than life decorations and the music you’ll be listening to will be that of Calypso and all music related to this type of music.

  • Jazz Inn –

Here the theme of course is all about Jazz.

  • Rock Inn –

If you love rock music, then this is the building you’ll want to reserve a room in this building.

  • Country Fair –

This is of course is all about country music and if that’s where your taste is, then you’ll love staying in this particular building.

  • Broadway Hotel –

This is ideal for anyone who really loves the music from Broadway. The decor is all about Broadway complete with Broadway posters and musical hits.

When it comes to the themes, probably the most fun themes found at the Disney All Star Music Resort can be found at the Rock Inn and the Country Fair. At the Country Fair you’ll find giant sized cowboy boots, banjos, guitars, and much more decorating the buildings.

The Rock Inn offers just as many giant sized items all related to rock music for visitors to enjoy. The main focus is the 60’s era and if you love that, you’ll really love the giant sized juke box, guitars, records and more. And let’s not forget the vintage Chevy that is a favorite by guests.

Last Major Refurbishment

It seems that all of the standard and preferred rooms were refurbished back in 2018 and the family suites were refurbished the following year in 2019. The once dated rooms, especially the family suites have all been brought more up to date and they’ve made the rooms far more functional than they once were.

Disney All Star Music Resort Location

Like all of the other All Star resorts, the Disney All Star Music Resort is located off Osceola Parkway that’s located at the lower end of the Disney resort. It is located in what’s known as the Animal Kingdom Resort area and this means that the closest theme park to the resort would be the Animal Kingdom theme park.

Disney All Star Music Resort Transportation

When it comes to transportation for the Disney All Star Music Resort, the options do tend to be a bit limited compared to many of the other resorts. But if you decide to rent your own vehicle, the lack of options won’t be a problem.

However, like most visitors, they most often do not drive themselves, which means that they will need to rely on the Disney bus system. You will find the bus stop outside Melody Hall which is the only place that you can hop on the bus at the Disney All Star Music Resort. Once you are on the bus, you can get to other resorts and use other sources of Disney transportation offered and just use the bus.

You can also, if you prefer, use private sources such as hiring an Uber, Lyft, or a “Minnie” Van if you would prefer avoiding a crowded bus to get where you want to go.

Rooms & Rates

When it comes to the rooms at the Disney All Star Music Resort you will find that there are three different types of rooms, but they do not offer club level rooms like many other resorts do offer. The room types include:

  • Standard Rooms –

Offers one Queen bed and one Queen Murphy bed that can be used as a table when not used as a bed. They offer views of the parking lot, pool area, and courtyard. Rooms sleep up to four people.

  • Preferred Rooms –

Offers one Queen bed and one Queen Murphy bed that can be used as a table when not used as a bed. They offer views of the parking lot, pool area, and courtyard. Rooms sleep up to four people.

  • Family Suites –

Offers three Queens, two of which are Murphy style pull down beds, offers a master bedroom, two bathrooms, living space, and kitchenette. Suites sleep up to six people.

Both the standard and preferred rooms are pretty much similar in design and the major difference is the decorations they have on the walls and the room accents. You will find the bathrooms a bit tight, however, they do have a separate vanity/dressing area which makes it a little easier if more than one person is trying to get ready at the same time.

The basic different between the standard and preferred is location. If you prefer to be closer to the main lobby and the bus stop, then you’re going to want to choose a preferred room.

All the rooms have a good amount of storage, plenty of USB ports for all your electronics and a very large wall mounted flat TV. They also provide you with a coffee area and a mini fridge to put a small amount of items in.

The family suites are meant for a larger group of people and they actually have a separate master room from the rest of the suite, which is a nice feature for parents especially. The suites also come with a nice kitchenette including a medium fridge, microwave, counter area where you can fix a quick breakfast or reheat meals later in the day. They also include two bathrooms and a nice living area.

Family Suites Rates – You can expect to pay quite a bit more for these rooms and that can be anywhere from £322.15 to £566.19.

Pros For Staying At Disney All Star Music Resort

No matter what one might say about any resort, there are always pros and cons of any resort. When it comes to the Disney All Star Music Resort here are some of the pros you can expect:

  • Price –

This can be said of all the “value” resorts at Disney. If you are on a tighter budget than others, the price tag for this resort and all of the “value” resorts is going to be far less than the other resorts.

  • Family Suites –

They offer 192 family suites to choose from and that means families with 3 to 4 children can be well accommodated in these suites. They are spacious and even include a separate room for mom and dad and two bathrooms.

  • Kid Friendly –

Probably one of the best things about this resort is how kid friendly it is from the theme to the rooms as well as the activities provided.

Cons Of The Disney All Star Music Resort:

  • No Table Service Dining –

For those who enjoy being waited on and having them food served at a table, really won’t care too much for not having this available.

  • Small Rooms –

The standard and preferred rooms are rather small and can feel cramped, especially if you have a couple of kids with you.

  • Noisy & Crowded –

Many complaints have been filed that this resort is pretty crowded and noisy at all times of the day.

What Families Would Enjoy It The Most?

When it comes to the types of families that might enjoy this resort the most, it would probably be the larger families with smaller children since there is so much to capture the eye and the imagination of younger children.

Variety Of Trip Adviser Reviews

To help you more, we’ve provided you here with a few reviews from Trip Adviser that you might be interested in:

“During check-in, we requested housekeeping. We were at the resort for five days. It was clear that housekeeping had entered our room. However, it’s like they never really cleaned the room because it looked exactly how we had left it. No dirty towels were taken out of the room. The towels that we had seemed to be the same towels we had and just refolded. In five days the bed was never made and the sheets were never changed.”

“The other issue was the transportation. They claimed the bus ran every 20 minutes but we were lucky to even get a bus to get to where we wanted.”

“Myself and my family have just spent 7 amazing nights at this resort.  All our previous visits to Orlando we have stayed in private villas however due to having our 4 year old granddaughter with us we decided to stay in a Disney resort and we were not disappointed. The staff, the food and the transportation to us, were 1st class. Cannot fault any part of our stay. Would definitely recommend it to anyone with small children.”

“What a fabulous value hotel, had concerns booking originally as seen mixed reviews but recognised very quickly that the hotel is beautifully done with great transportation to all the parks, water parks and Disney Springs and no wait was longer than 15 mins for a bus transfer.”

“Room refurbished to a good comfortable standard, including fridge hair dryer, iron and ironing board, coffee machine, cups and ice bucket. Plenty of towels and regularly changed. Bed sheets and rooms at moment not daily but making my own bed was not a problem and totally understand with Covid still around why this is happening (to be honest preferred my thing not being touched).”

“There is a food hall with a variety of different foods available and a handy gift shop.”

“I stayed with my 7 year old in a preferred room in Calypso. The towels were replaced every other day and the bins emptied the same which worked for us. The food court was brilliant and the staff lovely. It did get busy at breakfast and late evenings and did have to wait around a couple of times but that’s to be expected.”

“The Cast Members were fantastic, always around and so friendly.”

“We will definitely stay at the Allstar Music resort again the next time we visit Disney World. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Conrad, one of the friendly cast members we encountered throughout our stay. He was able to secure a room for us based on our priorities as we checked in almost two hours early. The renovated rooms were exceptionally cleans as were the surrounding grounds. The beds were comfortable as were the more than ample number of pillows. There was a notice in the room that explained the housekeeping policy which consisted of “light housekeeping” every other day. We had plenty of towels.”

Other Similar Disney Properties

If you don’t think that the Disney All Star Music Resort might not meet what you are looking for, there are other value resorts available for you to choose from that include:

  • All Star Movie Resort –

This is one that is very similar except that it focuses on popular Disney movies instead of music.

  • All Star Sports Resort –

This again is very similar to the Music Resort except that it focuses on all types of sports and if you love sports then this would be ideal for you.

  • Pop Culture –

This resort is also is a similar value resort that is quite popular because the areas of interest that it covers are the decades from the 50’s to the 90’s and if you love nostalgia, this one would be ideal.

  • Art Of Animation –

Yet another value resort and quite popular with families that have younger children because it focuses on the animation of a variety of Disney classic animated films.

Our Thoughts & Verdict

From what we can see, is that if you are on a budget, especially with a family with several kids, this could be a great opportunity for you to enjoy staying at a resort with the Disney flair. If you only want to have a place for just laying your head to sleep after a long day exploring different parks, it’s perfect. However, if you’re looking for more of a resort experience with a ton of amenities, you’ll not find it here.
