Caribbean Beach Resort –
You’ll find that this resort has a tropical theme and it does a pretty good job of resembling somewhere in the Caribbean Islands. Their color scheme is extremely vibrant and it reminds you of the tranquil feeling you get from the sun and sea associated with island paradises. This resort is 200 acres in size and it has it’s own 45 acre lake they call Barefoot Bay. In the middle of Barefoot Bay you’ll find an island called Caribbean Cay.
Port Orleans Riverside –
Actually, Disney’s Port Orleans is made up of two distinctly different resorts, the Riverside and the French Quarter. Of these two, the Riverside Resort is a little bit less in cost per night than the French Quarter. You will find the Port Orleans Riverside nestled along the banks of a river called the Sassagoula which offers a wonderful and beautiful lush landscape which gives off a very leisurely environment. It makes guests feel as if they just stepped right into a bayou in Louisiana.

The Caribbean Beach Resort is found in what is known as the EPCOT area of Disney World and the Port Orleans Riverside is found in the area known as the Disney Springs area. The best thing about either one of these locations is that they are located pretty close to each other, so that makes for travel time to and from the resorts to the different parks and the Orlando International Airport both about the same amount of time.
It’s important to note, because of the immense size of the Caribbean Beach Resort, it does require to use an internal bus system. This means that it can increase your travel time, especially depending upon where exactly you are staying at this resort.
Disney Port Orleans Riverside Vs Caribbean Beach Resort Transportation
Guests who stay at any of the Disney World resorts all can take advantage of free transportation to and from the airport on their Magical express. There are also other options of transportation, most are free but there are some that do require a fee.
Both of these resorts offer their own bus services that will take their guests to the different Disney parks, water parks, and even to their entertainment areas that include Disney Springs. Each resort also have their own unique transportation systems. For example the Caribbean Beach Resort guest can have fun taking the Skyliner. This is a gondola ride that takes guests from the resort to both Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. Whereas at the Port Orleans Riverside guests can take a calm and relaxing boat ride to Disney Springs.

Disney World offers three different categories of resorts: value, moderate, and their deluxe resorts. Both of these resorts fall into the moderate category of resorts. You’ll find that the Caribbean Beach Resort is a little bit lower in price per night than the Port Orleans Riverside.
Caribbean Beach Resort Rooms –
They offer three different types of rooms: standard, preferred and the pirate. The rooms measure 340 square feet and they actually are the biggest rooms found in their moderate category. They offer five different areas that they call villages and each one is named after Caribbean islands: Martinique, Trinidad, Barbados, Aruba, and Jamaica. Most of their standard rooms will sleep up to four people and a few of them will offer a Murphy bed to sleep five. Their preferred rooms will sleep up to five and their pirate rooms, which are themed after their name will sleep up to four people.
Port Orleans Riverside Rooms –
They also offer three different kinds of rooms: standard, preferred and royal. This resort offers two main areas, Magnolia Bend, and Alligator Bayou. The Bayou rooms will sleep up to five people and have two queens and one Murphy bed. Murphy beds by the way are best for children. In the Magnolia Bend are they offer standard and royal rooms. These are rooms that offer two queens and will sleep up to four people. The royal rooms have the theme that has princesses in mind.

Both of the resorts rooms all have the same amenities: hair dryer, free WiFi service, coffee maker, in-room safe, phone with voicemail, ironing board and iron, and mini fridge.

Caribbean Beach Resort Dining –
The hub of the resort is the renovated Port Royale and this is where you will find the front dest dining options and their store. Inside the Port Royale you will find a casual, sit down restaurant called Sebastian’s Bistro that serves seafood and Latin food. They also offer the Centertown Market and the Centertown Market Grab & Go which offers guests quick service breakfasts and dinner options having an island flare. At the Trinidad Pool area you’ll find the Spyglass Grill that is a counter service offering American favorites that have a slight Caribbean twist to the foot. There’s also the Banana Cabana that offers a variety of tropical drinks, beverages along with snacks.
Port Orleans Riverside Dining –
One of the key dining spots here is Boatwright’s Dining Hall that features American food that has been inspired by Southern Louisiana cooking. Note: they are only open for dinner. They do have a great food court called Riverside Mill that offers bakery goods, grilled foods, pizza, salads, pasta, as well as grab and go items. They have two bars, one is a full bar with light snacks located by Boatwright’s Dining Hall that offers a cabaret show and the other one is at Ol’ Man Island and offers specialty beverages.
