Are you planning an exciting trip to Orlando, Florida from the UK? No doubt you have plenty of questions about a variety of things. One decision you might be struggling with is where to stay while you are there. If you are planning a luxury trip you may by now have your resort choices down to Loews Portofino and Royal Pacific. So, which is better Loews Portofino or Royal Pacific?
So Which Is Better?
So, which resort at Universal Florida is the best resort out of the two? Is it Loews Portofino or the Royal Pacific? Well, if you are looking at the dollar amounts, then the most expensive would be the Portofino Bay Resort and the cheapest would be the Royal Pacific. However, cheapest doesn’t always mean that it’s the best option for some people because it turns out that the least expensive also means smaller rooms and if you are traveling with your whole family this may not be the best option.
In this article we’ll will outline both the pros and cons for both of these resorts and will focus on the lounge and club floor areas of both of these resorts. You’ll discover that sometimes if you take into consideration the cost of food and drinks across each resort, most of the time it works out much better to book what’s considered a club room than say booking a standard room.
When looking at both resorts and the different types of rooms and then add in all of the other expenses like park entry tickets, food, drinks, and much more, a $400.00 or £291.38 per night for a club room just may be far less expensive than a standard room that might cost you $200.00 or £145.69 per night.

Loews Portofino Bay Resort to most people believe it is the best luxury resort at all of Universal of Orlando and it is the most expensive of all of them. But if price is no issue, you may like this one the best. This resort is basically on-site and it’s a very easy walk for you to get to the CityWalk and to the different park entrances and should only take you 20 minutes. The walk itself is absolutely beautiful and if you love walking then you’ll find it well worth the time and effort.
The Portofino Rooms
Unlike the Royal Pacific Resort, the Portofino doesn’t offer a club floor and this means the room you want can be anywhere you want in the resort, however this means that the walk to the club lounge can be quite a ways from your room. The rooms by the way are probably the nicest rooms and they are larger, they have large bathrooms, double sinks, Wi-Fi, flat screen TVs, coffee makers, a safe, and a fridge. Their beds are quite comfortable as well.
The Royal Pacific
The Royal Pacific Resort is far cheaper than Portofino Bay, but kids may like it better because they actually offer the kids a really fun boat water feature where they can play in the water. It also has a great tropical theme which is pretty fun.
Royal Pacific Rooms
They do have club rooms that are located on their 7th floor and this gives guests access to their club lounge which is smaller than the one at Portofino Bay but it’s very attractive and there are three different areas all with TVs that offer kid’s shows so you can bring the kids along while you enjoy kicking back and relaxing. The actual rooms have been refurbished recently, which is nice. The bathroom only has one sink and the rooms do feel somewhat small or cramped compared to the Portofino Bay rooms, but after all, that should be expected since they are half the price.
Other Things Of Interest
The Royal Pacific offers free drinks all day long, they offer a free Continental breakfast daily that includes dry cereal, yogurt, fruit, bagels, oatmeal, juice, milk, coffee, and a pancake maker. They also offer an afternoon bite from 4 to 7 PM that includes free chips, granola bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and spicy crackers.
Their dinner menus are limited when compared to Portofino Bay because they rotate a different meal each day and certain days may not be something you might like. Their dinner themes include:
- Caribbean Night
- American Night
- Mexican Night
- Italian Night
Their dessert menu however is huge and quite delicious.
