If you are already planning for a trip to Disney World, you probably already have discovered just how many places there are to stay. The vast choices can be quite overwhelming so in this post we will discuss Caribbean Beach Resort vs Art of Animation in the hope of making the list a little bit shorter for you to pick from.
Caribbean Beach Resort Theme
The title kind of gives the theme away right away. If you’re looking for a tropical Caribbean paradise then this could be the resort for you. Of all the moderate resorts, Caribbean Beach probably has the tamest theme. This resort is huge and takes up 200 acres of land and surrounds a 45 acre lake for guests to enjoy during their stay. It has a variety of different “villages” that include: Martinique, Barbados, Old Port Royale, Aruba, Jamaica, and Trinidad. The hub of their resort would be the Old Port Royal where you will find their lobby, shops, feature pool and their main restaurants. Their other five “villages” contain mainly the vibrant colored room buildings, smaller leisure pools and each one has their own small beaches you can kick back and relax.
Art Of Animation Theme
This “value” resort comes at you with hardcore Disney themes and it is quite often the favorite resort for guests with kids because the kids love all the Disney movies that are represented that include: Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars. The different rooms and suites have different themes that correspond with their movies that are represented at the resort. If you want your entire vacation to be everything Disney, then this might be the resort for you and your family.
Caribbean Beach Resort Rooms
They offer three different kinds of rooms that include standard, preferred and pirate rooms. The standard and preferred are pretty minimal in design yet still functional and they come with amenities that include: hair dryer, coffee maker, TV, free WiFi, safe, phone with voicemail, and more. The rooms come with two queens, or king beds and a Murphy bed can be requested and sleep up to 5 people. Their pirate rooms of course are pirate themed and quite popular with the kids. Rooms can range from about $183 to $225 per night.
Art Of Animation Rooms
Art of animation is the most expensive of all the “value” resorts and they offer what they call Little Mermaid Rooms which of course are themed after the movie and start at $195 to $367 per night. They also offer Family Suites. The family suites are themed after Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and Cars and they start at $442 to $856 per night. Suites offer one queen, one double sofa sleeper, and one double table bed and the Little Mermaid rooms offer one king or two queens.
Caribbean Beach Resort Pools
The Caribbean Beach Resort offers six different pools for their guests. Five of the six are found in the five villages and are smaller than the feature pool. There’s nothing special about the smaller pools. The feature pool is called “Fuentes Del Morro”. The theme is Spanish Colonial with a touch of pirates with water slides, water cannons and a fun water play area. The kids will definitely enjoy the pirate theme.
Art Of Animation Pools
This resort offers three pools and brags of having the biggest pool out of all the resorts called the Big Blue Pool and is inspired by the movie Finding Nemo. There’s a great interactive water play area which kids love and a ton of poolside activities. They also have the Cozy Cone Pool which is inspired by Cars and then there’s the Flippin’ Fins pool that has and “Under the Sea Orchestra” where music is played under the water in the pool, which is pretty cool.
Caribbean Beach Resort Food & Drink
When it comes to food and drink, the Caribbean Beach Resort offers one table service eatery, two quick service, one full bar and three “grab and go” type eateries. However, guests are not confined to just these services because they can make a quick walk over to the Riviera Resort which serves “deluxe” level food and beverage options. Kids will especially going over to Riviera’s Topolino’s Terrace where they offer a character breakfast.
Now the places to choose from at the Caribbean include: Sebastian’s Bistro, their table service eatery. It’s pretty casual and nothing fancy about it but the service is great and the food is pretty good, especially if you really like seafood.
Centertown Market is their primary fast service spot, even though it’s not really a food court, it does come pretty close. They offer a mixture of American, Caribbean, and Latin foods. Some of their signature sandwiches include: a Cuban, spicy tuna wrap and cheese steak. During breakfast and lunch you need to go to the counter, but at dinner they do have table service.
Spyglass Hill is found in the Trinidad “village” and it’s another fast service spot to grab a variety of items. Most guests however, tend to like the Centertown Market better for their variety.
Then there’s the Banana Cabana Bar and has a pretty impressive theme that has an open air atmosphere and some great views. There are also two “island markets” found at the Jamaica and Aruba villages that are really more like glorified vending machines.
Art Of Animation Food & Drink
When it comes to food and drink, they offer the food court called Landscape of Flavors that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they offer four different themed dining spaces and five different quick service food counters. Breakfast they offer waffle platters, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, omelets, and more. For lunch and dinner they offer salmon, shrimp, chicken, pasta, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, salads, desserts, and beverages.
Conclusion
If you are not coming with younger children, the Art of Animation might be going overboard when it comes to all the Disney character theme. If you are alone or traveling with older kids the Caribbean Beach Resort would tend to be more attractive because of the exotic paradise feel and on top of that, the food overall is much better because there’s more choices and because many of the menu items tend to have a nice Latin or Caribbean flair to them.
